I have never bought a car on auction before, what do I need to participate on an auction?

To be able to buy on auction you have to:

  • Complete the registration process and provide:
    • Proof of Identity (ID) and FICA documents – click here for more info.
  • Pay a R5 000 refundable deposit
How do I pay for the R5 000 deposit?
  • You can swipe your card using our speed point in the registration office at our Meadowdale premises
  • You can pay by EFT into our bank account using our banking details attached Download PDF.
  • You can pay online on our website
  • We do not accept cash at our premises but, if you prefer to pay for your purchase with cash, you are welcome to do a cash deposit into our bank account prior to the auction and provide us with the proof of payment, alternatively  we will assist you in making a cash deposit at the bank on the day of the auction. Please note that the bank charges a cash deposit fee which will be for your account.
What happens to my R5 000 deposit after the auction?
  • If you buy a car on auction then the deposit can be used towards settling the vehicle.
  • If you don’t find the car you want on auction you can leave the deposit with us for future auctions or you can ask for the money to be refunded.
  • Your deposit (or portion thereof) may be utilised in the event of any breach in your payment obligations. Please refer to our terms and conditions regarding refunds in this respect
How long will it take to receive my refund if I want the deposit refunded?
  • Time for the money to reflect in your account is bank dependent and can take between 1 - 7 working days.
  • If you paid by any other manner, the refund may take up to 7 working days be refunded,subject to bank processes.
How can I determine the condition of the vehicle before buying it?

Customers are allowed to come and inspect vehicles at our premises on the following viewing days;

  • Friday: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
  • Monday: before the physical auction starts at 11:00
  • Tuesday: From 08:00 to 15:30 (For the vehicles on the timed online auction).
  • At the Monday physical auction each vehicle will be started in front of the customers before bidding on that vehicle starts.
How do I calculate exactly how much I will pay for a car?

Total amount to pay is made up of the following:

  • For the Physical auction:
    • Bid price plus
    • Document fee of R2 500 plus
    • Vat – 15%
  • For Timed online auctions total amount to pay is made up of the following:
    • Bid price (Vat inclusive); plus
    • Document fee of R2 875
  • You can use our calculator to assist you to determine how much you will pay.
Once I have identified the vehicle I like, how do I bid on it?
  • At the physical auction you have to wait for the auctioneer to get to the vehicle you want before you can bid on it.
    • The auctioneer will announce the vehicle detail before bidding begins
    • There will be a cone placed on top of the vehicle to help you identify exactly which vehicle is being auctioned.
    • The auctioneer will call out a bidding amount
    • You can then bid by putting your hand up when the auctioneer calls out the amount you are happy to pay.
    • Remember that you must have gone through the registration process and have a valid bidding number before you bid on a car.
  • On the Timed Online Auction you can bid on the car at any time during the timed auction.
    • You bid by simply clicking on the bid button if you are happy to pay the next bid price.
Can I Finance a vehicle bought on Auction?
  • Yes. We have Auction Finance representatives on Saturdays (viewing days) and on Monday (auction days) that can help arrange for Finance.
  • Dealers can also use their floor plans to buy on auction if authorized by their banks.
